I think the costumes should suggest a stark, hyper urban sky scape. If I remember to look up when walking through Manhattan or Chicago the experience of the city becomes more poetic and dramatic. The height and geometry of the buildings and the stone and metal and glass and all of the people that built and conceived the architecture lift me up into the sky. Can the tutus morph the contrast between the blocky silhouette and the bright edge of sky?

Love Gareth Pugh fractals on right as treatment for leos/tights.

Plato- Gives a sense of dimensional texture.

Root model-This is close to the effect, but larger scale, towers meet tutus.
When traveling alone it is possible to have a deeper experience of oneself in the world, and witness who you are without being filtered by the context of the external influence and needs of your family, friends and community.

Different idea, another option, seeing yourself reflected in others when you are traveling alone.
I love to look at how people behave when they walk past a reflective glass building or chrome edge. Do they look away, so as not to be vain or reminded, or is their gaze locked all the way, do they go up close and fix their lipstick? It is interesting for me to see myself, my own gait and posture, and how my clothes read on an urban stage.
I have an idea in my head and before I draw it, I spend a few days google image searching with key words that describe what I am thinking about. (geometric, dress sculpture, cube dress, horsehair, sky scape...) It is amazing to me how everything you can possibly think of already exists in some creative way. In costume design one must be inspired or informed by other artists, tertiary collaborators. I draw on subconscious visual memory without intention. I don't do photo research until I have my own idea, and I don't like to look at tons of runway shows or magazines for this reason. (Except for
Alexander McQueen.) It is very helpful to use the photos below to suggest what I am thinking of before I draw it or build a sample.
